Already booked?

Don’t worry – we’ll be in touch with you, in arrival date order, to talk through the effects Covid Secure compliance (read our full statement here) will have on Lakeside and therefore your own booking.

A few things to note:

As always, we want your holiday to be everything you’d expect and it follows that your Simply Somerset break will be no exception. However, we all realise that so many things can’t be quite the same this year and our foremost consideration is to ensure all our visitors and team members STAY SAFE.

So, we’d like to make some of the essential, but all-important, changes we’ve had to make this year really clear so there’s no misunderstanding over what you can expect here at Lakeside this season.

We’re calling our 2020 holidays Simply Somerset because:

We simply provide the accommodation and setting -the rest is up to you!

But, firstly, some very important things that won’t change:

✔ A small family run holiday park.
✔ A choice of holiday homes in a delightful setting.
✔ All in a great location, just a short level walk from the town centre or beach in Somerset’s favourite
traditional destination of Burnham-on-Sea..

✔ It’s the ultimate base to tour and explore all that Somerset has to offer.

All new bookings for the 2020 season will be on the basis of Simply Somerset breaks.

Here’s a handy comparison.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1. What’s a Simply Somerset break compared with a traditional holiday?

As we’ve said, this year we’re simply providing the accommodation and setting – the rest is up to you and your family who’ll have all the time in the world to explore the beauty of Somerset and the West Country from the safety and comfort of your self-contained, self-catered holiday home.

2. Why can’t we come to Lakeside and simply expect all the usual facilities and things going on?

We’re not confident that it’s possible to deliver an effective or satisfactory experience for you with the restrictions that would need to be in place. Even if some levels of reduced facilities could be offered, the requirements demanded by Covid Secure – Keeping you Safe compliance would simply not be physically practical/viable for us to try and provide at Lakeside or, importantly, be enjoyable for you.  You deserve value for money, so it’s for all these reasons that we’ve gone right back to basics. You’ll get the keys to your self-contained holiday home and from then on simply enjoy the re-discovered freedom away from lockdown that a break at Lakeside offers you!

3. What about lots of the photos and wording on this website about all the things to do on park?

Sadly, what’s on offer at Lakeside for the 2020 Simply Somerset Breaks is as outlined above under “A few things to Note” and for the reasons stated in the answer to Question (2). Many of the photos and descriptions (bar, entertainment, food, swimming pool activities, playground etc) are of Lakeside in “normal” times and before the onset of Covid restrictions.

4. Are the Simply Somerset prices lower then?

Yes! You can make savings of over 1/3rd (that can be well over £300) for certain stays when compared to our normal tariff. July, August and September are now looking like incredible value for 2020! Demand is already strong so search for your holiday now.

5. So, what are you actually providing in the caravan then?

Everything you need for a self-catering stay will be in your holiday home as usual. Although interaction with our guests will be contact-free, we’re still here to help over anything you may need during your stay! As usual, you’ll need to provide your own towels, tea towels, washing-up liquid, toilet rolls, and other items of a personal nature.

Very important – in addition, you will need to bring your own duvets, pillows, and bed linen on Simply Somerset Breaks.

6. Why do I need to bring my own duvets, pillows or bedding?

We’ve carefully thought about every element of your stay to help ensure a safe environment for you, your family, and our Lakeside Team. In the current climate, the logistics of processing and replacing used bedding whilst maintaining essential Covid guidance requirements is simply not sustainable or practical within the time frame a rolling basis of arrivals/departures allows. Help us avoid this and sleep soundly by bringing your own duvets, pillows, and bed sheets when you book a Simply Somerset Break (but please remember to take all your bedding home with you!)

Suggestion – you’re on holiday, not at home, so why not simply pack enough sleeping bags instead!

7. How will I check in?

Details and all necessary information will be provided to you before the day of arrival. Our reception will remain open but where possible we will be operating a contactless check in. We will not be supplying visitors with our normal Welcome Pack. Please ensure you check your booking details before arrival.

Before you arrive, we ask that you advise us of your arrival time. This should be between 3 p.m. – 6 p.m. We understand there can be hold ups with holiday traffic etc, therefore please contact us before 6 p.m. with an ETA so that we are aware or need to make/amend arrival arrangements for you.

We also have a brand-new Lakeside Holiday Park app to download with all the information you should need, you can download this now from either Apple Store or Google Play.

8. What are you doing to ensure the cleanliness of my accommodation?

Please click this link to see our detailed Covid Secure Statement.

9. How will you ensure social distancing?

All caravan holiday homes are spaced well apart, distances being way in excess of any minimum requirements.

Please see Covid Secure Statement link for more details.

10. If there’s a problem during my stay, who do I contact?

Never fear. We’ll still be there to help – usual details for contact will be provided in the information sent to you ahead of arrival.

11. I’m expecting to come to Lakeside in October – you don’t say anything about bookings after the end of September?

We’re hoping, of course, that this so very different season will continue until the finish of the October half-term, as it always has done, but it’s likely that continuing and ongoing practical considerations will mean that it will be on the same Simply Somerset Breaks basis as regards to both how we can operate and any facilities, other than the caravan itself and its location, we can realistically offer to our visitors.

None of us know what government guidance or restrictions, at any level, may be in place in 3 months’ time that directly affect holiday parks but we will be monitoring this bigger picture situation very closely indeed as it unfolds.

We will be in touch with everyone who’s booked for October nearer the time as appropriate or may be necessary.

12. “Normal” Booking Conditions

Please note that the general Terms and Conditions as set out here on this website will continue to apply where not inconsistent with the basis of Simply Somerset Breaks, our Covid Secure Statement or government restrictions/guidance, all as may be amended/appropriate at any time during 2020.

13. What if things change? Sorry, there has to be some small print!

The basis of Simply Somerset Breaks and these notes have been prepared ahead of final government confirmation as to when self-catering UK holidays may re-commence or what operational restrictions for holiday parks may continue to be in force, modified or introduced. We reserve the right to amend or otherwise change any of the foregoing offers/details/conditions/information set out above, or elsewhere in this website, without prior notice and possibly with an immediate effect, all as evolving circumstances may demand and at our absolute discretion.
